Bold Stool Urushi/Daqi lacquered
In a residential trip, we are fascinated by an ancient natural material-lacquer, but rarely known. We are wondering if we could save this traditional craftsmanship, unveil its unique beauty to bigger audiences, and elevates its art value through our work.
Therefore we started this exploring journey where tradition meets modernity, industrialization meets craftsmanship.
We designed a simple modern seamless-mono shaped stool, balanced it with a sophisticated curvature transition that can maximumly showcase the various beauty that different lacquering technique creates. Many experiments were done, after overcoming this huge challenge of lacquering on this controlled organic shape, BOLD STOOL was born.
